আমাদের সত্য কথা বলার সাহস থাকা চাই। অন্যকে ভয় পেলে চলবে না এবং আমাদেরকে নিয়ে কে কি ভাবে তা নিয়েও শঙ্কিত হবার কিছু নেই। যত দিন আমাদের উদ্দেশ্য সৎ হয় ততদিন স্রষ্টা আমাদের পাশে থাকবে। আর তার সহায়তায় আমরা দুর্বলদেরকে উৎসাহিত করতে সক্ষম হব। এভাবেই আমরা জীবনে এগিয়ে যাব এবং খুঁজে নেব অভীষ্ট লক্ষ্য।

Having no domestic servants allowed many of us to re-set the food habit of the family, even to redeem some habits, like the entire household lending hands with chores. Today marks the 49 years of our existence as a sovereign nation. We should always remember with a deep sense of gratitude, the enormous contributions of the freedom fighters who fought and bled on the ground and the leading role of Bangabandhu and his four trusted lieutenants in steering us to this moment, Together, their efforts and sacrifices, as well as that of countless other individuals both at home and abroad, paved the way for the fulfilment of the Bengali dream for self-determination.

= স্বাধীন সার্বভৌম জাতি হিসেবে আজ আমরা ৪৯ বছর পার করছি। ১৯৭১ সালের এই দিনে দীর্ঘ নয় মাস ব্যাপী যুদ্ধে অকল্পনীয় ক্ষতি আর দুঃখ দুর্দশার বিনিময়ে এই বহুল আকাঙ্ক্ষিত স্বাধীনতা অর্জিত হয়েছিল। সর্বদাই গভীর কৃতজ্ঞতাভরে তাদের এই অবদান স্মরণ করা উচিৎ। মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের অসীম অবদান যারা আমাদের স্বাধীনতার জন্য যুদ্ধ করেছিল এবং এই রক্ত দিয়েছিল যাতে বঙ্গবন্ধু ও তার চার সহযোগীর বিশ্বস্ত হাতে আমাদের পরিচালনার ভার ন্যস্ত হয়। বাঙালির এই আত্ম- প্রত্যয়ের স্বপ্ন বাস্তবায়ন করতে মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের প্রচেষ্টা ও ত্যাগের সাথে সাথে এদেশের অগণিত মানুষের এবং বিদেশীদের ত্যাগ সহযোগিতা করেছিল।
